Job Summary

The Clinical Specialist is an experienced cardiology nurse who applies clinical expertise to a remote patient monitoring environment to optimize patient, clinical, operational, and economic outcomes.  The incumbent relies on a deep knowledge of industry best practices and practical experience.  Works closely with clinical contacts at customer sites and with organization’s Sales & Marketing teams to develop, implement, grow, and improve remote patient monitoring programs.  Coordinates services and systems throughout the organization required to optimize the patient and hospital experience for managing patients in the home pre and post discharge. 

Key drivers- staff efficiency, growing LVAD programs, improving outcomes, enriching patient experience

Job Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain best practices for customer on-boarding and customer retention

•  Enhance perceived value of RPM resulting in increased referral census (market adoption)

•  Influence specialty society through trade shows participation and data evidence publicationsWork closely with patients and centers to facilitate new patient onboarding

•  Work closely with patients and centers to facilitate new patient onboarding

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

•  Works closely with contracted hospitals, clinics, and physicians to manage functional aspects of remote patient monitoring program(s)

•  Partners with Sales & Marketing to promote and implement programs and educate hospitals, clinical staff and executive leaders on program benefits and outcomes

•  Clinical support drives growth of active referral sites and cumulative active Patient Census.

•  Establishes clinical goals and strategies for reducing re-hospitalization and improve other key outcome and performance metrics.

•  Leadership within academic centers to support investigator initiated clinical studies (data evidence relevant to Heart, Lung, and Kidney transplants)

•  Develops, coordinates, and supports patient education programs and evaluates impact.

•  Works collaboratively with internal and external partner organizations to support monitoring program construction, implementation, and expansion.

•  Maintains knowledge about current research and evidence-based practices and recommends changes to program(s) as appropriate.

•  Maintains oversight of a variety of chronic disease states.

•  Assists payer partners and healthcare-related government agencies by offering clinical perspectives and expertise on telemonitoring, measured outcomes, program performance and patient performance.

•  Teaches and provides reinforcement for patients and their families on caring for themselves at home under the instructions provided by their physicians

•  Participates in the development and maintenance of disease specific statistical databases pertaining to provided services (including patient registry)

•  Supports development of the organization’s clinical protocols

•  Participates in the identification and testing of program enhancements including (but not limited to) research, addition of equipment, software, and clinical protocols

•  Extends caring practices to all members of the team with a compassionate attitude

•  Applies clinical expertise to all areas of the organization – Sales & Marketing, Operations, IT

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

•  Extensive experience in discharge management for a wide spectrum of post-surgical conditions

•  Skilled in the use of specialized medical equipment in respective areas of practice

•  Knowledgeable in documentation – clinical protocols, work instructions and patient education materials

•  Knowledge of program development, implementation, and evaluation

•  Ability to collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff, management, and executive leaders

•  Excellent verbal and written skills in communication, management, and leadership

•  Quality systems thinking through definition and measurement of the quality indicators

•  Adept with technology, including utilizing medical applications and terminology as well as basic MS experience

•  Experience managing professionals

•  Sound and ethical clinical judgment, decision making and problem-solving skills

•  Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

•  Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required (BSN) 

•  Current RN license

 Physical Requirements

•  Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

•  Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

•  Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

•  Occasional travel might be required.

  TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

•  Domestic 3 to 4 overnights per month 

•  Nationwide travel until company establishes regional clinical leads in other geographic locations

Preferred Job Requirements

•  Minimum five years of nursing experience in critical care with progressive experience

•  Relevant healthcare industry experience i.e., working with hospitals, nurses, and transplant coordinators.
